Install and configure FileZilla - IT Services - Trinity College Dublin - Windows InstallationSetup a filezilla server -
It also offers a simpler user management that is presented upfront on the server application's interface. Step One. Download FileZilla Server installer from the Filezilla site.
Step Two. Run the installer to bring up the License Agreement part of the installation. Step Three. Then, select the checkboxes you wish to include in the installation. Standard is a good default, however, if you wish to include the source code, you can click the checkbox, and it will add it to the installation.
Step Four. Next, please select the file path you wish to install it to and click next. Step Five. Next, it will ask how Filezilla Server should be started. It is recommended to go with the default if you plan to use FTP frequently. Step two: Start the installation and then double click the downloaded installer file.
This will start the installation process. Step three: Figure A shows the available components for FileZilla. Select the components that need to be installed and click Next.
Figure A. If FileZilla will be used occasionally, I suggest a manual start. You can stop and start the server when you want, but every time the machine reboots, FileZilla will start unless it is set up for manual start at installation. You can also configure the port FileZilla will use. Make sure this port is open for external access before continuing to the next step. Figure B. Step five: Even though the server is running, unless the server interface is running, the server can only be stopped and started from the Windows Services window.
In this step, you can configure how the server interface is started Figure C. You do this by going to ADD under the users section. After adding users you MUST add a shared folder, which is right beside the users box. This part is simple, just search for what you want to share.. Make sure what you want to be shared is set as the home directory. To setup the password, clickon the general tab to the left and setup the passwords per user account.
I'm a big fan of not trying to memorize numbers.. From here you will need to set up an account and DL the No-IP client which can be found at the top downloads tab. SO say if you made hostname as bob and you chose no-ip. You should be up and running, if you have any problems feel free to email me!! Question 4 years ago on Introduction. I have setup filezilla and forwarded the port , i have opened windows firewall and added inbound and outbound exceptions for I checked my port with an online checker.
I went out to try logging in but it would not login. I checked with the online port check and it was now closed. What is causing the port to close? I have a problem. When I put my hostname from No-Ip. I have a problem.. Check if it has the same fingerprints as those created at startup. You can find them in the log searching for SHA. Note: Under Windows you can find the log files in the sub-folder see section Windows Installation. If you installed FileZilla Server locally the certificate can be trusted.
By trusting the certificate the Administration interface will connect to FileZilla Server, otherwise the connection will be aborted.
